- How long can I check out materials?

Books, Audiobooks: 4 weeks
New Fiction, Lucky Day Books: 2 weeks
DVDs: 1 week (some non-fiction DVDs may be 4 weeks)
Magazines: 2 weeks

We no longer charge overdue fines for most items checked out at our library. Lost and damage charges still apply, as well as overdue charges for items from outside our library system and other special items. Visit our Fine Free page for full details.
- How can I pay a fine?

You can pay fines in person at the library with cash, check, or a credit/debit card (processing fee applies). If your fines are over $10, you can login to LINKcat to access your library account and pay online with a credit card (no processing fee). For more details about online payments, visit LINKcat Help.
- How do I pick up my holds?

Holds are available in the library or by curbside pickup appointment. To pick up your holds in the library, find your items on our hold shelf (arranged alphabetically by last name) and check them out at the main desk or a self check station. To pickup curbside, schedule an appointment online or call the library at 608-838-9030. Visit our Curbside Pickup page for full details.
- How do I renew my materials?

Materials can be renewed online in LINKcat by logging in to your account with your library card number and PIN. Alternately, you can call us at 608-838-9030 or use our telecirc system (Harriet). From a touchtone phone, call Harriet at 608-242-4700 and use your library card number to renew items, get a list of all items you have out, when they are due, items currently on the hold shelf for you and more.
- Are there computers and printers available for me to use?

Internet computers can be reserved with your library card or a guest pass for up to 2 hours. A photocopier/scanner/printer is available and accepts cash or credit/debit cards. Black and white copies/printouts are 10¢ each, and color is 50¢. Scanning to a USB drive is free. We also now offer mobile wireless printing so that you can print directly from your own device in the library or from home.
- Do you have wireless internet access (wi-fi)?

Wi-fi is available inside our building and extends outside to our parking lot and the Discovery Park. Connect to the "Library Wireless" network; no password needed.
- How can I reserve the community room or a study room?

The community room may be available outside of library programming hours for reservations up to three months in advance.

- Library staff will review your request and contact you via email to approve or deny.
Two study rooms are available according to our Study Room Policy (pdf). Time limited to 1 hour if others are waiting. One room is available first come, first served and the other can be reserved in advance by calling the circulation desk at 608-838-9030.

- Can you help me get a document notarized?

Notary services are available by appointment.
Other options include the McFarland Municipal Center on a drop-in basis (Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm M-F) and the UPS store in Monona.
- Do you accept used book donations?

We gladly accept donations of used books, audiobooks on CD, and DVDs following the guidelines on our Library Donations page. If you have a large donation, please call us at 608-838-9030 to make arrangements.
