Who are the Friends of the McFarland Library?
We are a group of book lovers, information seekers, listeners, viewers and thinkers. We worked hard to help provide McFarland with its first library, and to realize the dream of expanding into the new library. Now, we support various projects and needs to help sustain the library.
What do the Friends do?
We are the fundraising and support group for the library and as such have several projects throughout the year, including periodic used book sales. The money we raise helps purchase materials for the library's collection. We sponsor the Summer Reading Program, as well as special programs and guest speakers. We recently funded the mural in the Children's section and Big Blue Blocks for children's programming.
What volunteer opportunities are available with the Friends?
Assistance is needed in the following areas:
- Fundraising projects (book sales, special mailings, etc.)
- Service as Friends officers
When do the Friends meet?
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, at 6:00 p.m. in the library community room. Everyone is welcome — please join us!
