The library will be at the heart of all the action during the McFarland Community Festival! Other important notes during festival weekend (Friday, September 27th - Sunday, September 29th):
- Our parking lot and outside book drop will be closed. We hope to reopen both sometime Monday, September 30th. Handicapped parking will be available along Long Street, but please allow extra time to find parking during this time or walk/bike to the library if you're able!
- Holds will not expire.
- We no longer have overdue fines, so you can return items after the festival worry free!

Find great bargains on fabulous used books & DVDs at the Friends of McFarland Library Used Book Sale!
On Thursday, September 26, Friday, September 27, and Saturday, September 28, visit the library's community room to shop the sale. The sale runs from 9 AM - 7 PM on Thursday, and 9 AM - 4 PM on Friday and Saturday.

Run, walk, stroll, or dance at the E.D. Locke Public Library's 3rd Annual 5K Run/Walk and Kids Dash.
There are three ways that you can participate:
5K Run/Walk
We are excited to offer an in person event on Saturday, September 28, 2024. Run, walk, or dance your way through the course and enjoy post-race refreshments. Strollers and dogs are allowed.
Virtual 5K
Race packets can be picked up at the library beginning September 27. Participants from outside the area may request their packet be shipped for a fee.
Run or walk a 5K any time from September 28 - October 7.
Choose your route and run anywhere.Kids' Obstacle Dash
Children may register for a 1/3 mile obstacle run. Each registered participant will receive a bag and medal. Parents may join in at no additional cost.
All proceeds from the event benefit the E.D. Locke Public Library.

Snake, Rattle, and Roll! with Snake Discovery
Friday, September 27 @ 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 28 @ 11:00 a.m.
Get to watch a salamander eat, debunk turtle myths, touch snakes, and more! See a tiger salamander, native turtles, native snakes, and exotic reptiles including a large boa constrictor. Time is reserved after the presentation to touch and hold the reptiles for a truly hands-on experience!
- McFarland Historical Markers Walking Tours

Local historian Ron Larson will be leading us through the newly installed McFarland Historical Markers that you've seen popping up on Main Street. The same walk is offered twice: Saturday, September 28, 1-2:30 PM, and Sunday, September 29, 2-3:30 PM. For each walk, we will meet at the library's front entrance. Please wear good walking shoes and weather appropriate attire. Registration is required and can be found here starting September 13.

Friday, September 27th from 5:00pm - 6:30pm.
Head to the festival main tent and test your trivia knowledge! Hosted by local resident and Jeopardy! 3-time champion Patrick Fernan.
- 50/50 Raffle

Support the library by participating in our 50/50 Raffle Fundraiser. Purchase raffle tickets at the library for $5 each or $20 for 5.
Cash, check, or credit card are accepted (please make checks out to "Friends of McFarland Library"). The winner receives 50% of the total amount raised, and the other 50% goes to the Friends of the McFarland Library.
Drawing will be held Monday, September 30th at 9:30 AM, need not be present to win.
